About the game
Averrion: Ascension
Averrion: Ascension is a co-op action RPG in the spirit of the classics: pick a class, go down into the dark, and come back up with better gear than you went in with. It is set in the lands of Averrion, on the world of Nah'dur, where something old has woken beneath the town of Ravenhollow.
Play alone or with up to three friends, in your browser or on Windows and Linux. Your characters are saved to your account and follow you between all of them. Each realm is its own world, with its own characters, leaderboards and stash.

Early access to an unfinished game
This is an alpha
Averrion: Ascension is being built in the open, and you can play it long before it is finished. That means you get to see it grow and help shape it, but it also means almost everything is still moving. Expect rough edges, bugs, and updates that change how things work.
Characters will be wiped
Every character gets wiped before the official launch. Everyone starts the real thing on the same footing, and nobody walks in with a head start from the alpha.
Alpha and beta characters will probably be wiped along the way too. As new abilities, talents and systems come in, a clean slate beats wrestling with migrations and weird leftover bugs from older versions.
So don't treat the alpha or beta as a long-term save. Wipes can happen without notice, though most of the time you'll get a heads-up first.
Models and art
Most of what you see is placeholder art, there to make the game playable while the real models, effects and scenery are made.
Balance
Damage, life, costs, drop rates and difficulty are tuned all the time. Something strong today may not be tomorrow, and the reverse.
Skills and classes
Skills get added, moved and reworked, and new classes arrive. When a class tree changes, you get your skill points back to spend again.
Maps and zones
Layouts, areas, monsters and whole acts will be added, rebuilt and reordered as the world grows.
Story
Names, quests and dialogue are stand-ins until the real story of Averrion is written. Ravenhollow may not be called Ravenhollow at launch.
Every change, written down
Each update lists what was added, changed, removed and fixed in the changelog, so you always know what moved.
Help shape it
Every alpha player is a playtester. Play it, push your builds, and tell us what feels wrong, what breaks and what you would love to see. Bug reports go straight to the people making the game.
